The HTC atlantic kite challange

Departing between 20th-25th of November 2013 a team of 6 kitesurfers will cross the Atlantic Ocean by kite. In a 24-hours non-stop relay session every rider will be surfing 4 hours a day: 2 by day, 2 by night. The changing of kitesurfers will be done by a routine operation using a support rib connected with yacht.

This epic trip will have an estimated duration between 2 and 3 weeks depending on winds and currents and has its arrival event between 7 and 15 december 2013.

Departure Location

gorriones-hotel-enable-passionRené Egli Fuerteventura represents since 30 years excellent windsurfing and kiteboarding holidays.

In 2013 a whole new Kite-Center was opened, situated idyllically in below the palm trees of the 4****+ Hotel Meliã Gorriones and directly at the shallow lagoon, depending on the tides. The Center always counts with the latest equipment, which is annually completely exchanged, and classes for all levels in small learning groups. The ideal temperatures and wind conditions all year round make for the perfect set up to start the Atlantic Kite Challenge of the Enable Passion crew. The team will spend their last nights on shore within the beautiful Gorriones hotel to ensure a well-rested body and a piece of mind before embarking on their challenge. To support this unique adventure and share the spirit with the inspired pioneers and the whole crew is an honour to us – we´re looking forward to hosting you here at Sotavento Beach.

Arrival destination

blue-haven-resort-enable-passionAfter departing in Fuerteventura the arrival on Turks and Caicos three weeks later (estimated between December 7 and December 15) coincides with the grand opening of this region’s premiere adventure destination, Blue Haven Resort and Marina. The new property is the ‘official arrival destination’ hotel for the Atlantic Kite Challenge. Here the team will be welcomed on the water by the Big Blue Unlimited kite and safety team and feted with a three day celebration that will include beach volleyball competitions, cultural exhibitions and fairs, the music of local bands, delicious cuisine and the enthusiasm of regional kiteboarding groups, resort guests and locals.

Tucked away on the Leeward side of Providenciales, Blue Haven Resort and Marina, the “Gateway to the True Turks and Caicos Islands,” provides a secluded and tranquil vacation destination away from the bustling resorts that line Grace Bay Beach. Blue Haven’s premier location just minutes from the world’s third largest barrier reef makes it the ideal choice for outdoor adventure enthusiasts whose primary vacation goal is to partake in exciting adventures. Guests have access to PADI scuba diving, deep sea and fly-fishing excursions, Kitesurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and exploration excursions to remote destinations throughout the Turks and Caicos archipelago.
